MHB Consultants Limited was commissioned by Geo-Structural Ltd (GSL) to provide Site Investigation (SI) support as part DAS/20 works for Historical Railway Estate (HRE) project.
Structure DAS2/20 ‘Station Road Bridge’ carries a class ‘C’ public road, over the former Darval – Strathaven railway line in Gilmourton, South Lanarkshire.
The purpose of the SI works is to ascertain the geotechnical properties of the material within the former railway cutting. The presence and location of a line of internal stiffeners will also be confirmed. The objectives of the investigation will be achieved through provision of access to all areas of the structure and undertaking intrusive site investigations including trial pitting, undertaking boreholes, and paint sampling.
MHB provided technical support, supervision during the site investigation and subsequent reporting to ensure quality assurance and quality control procedures were being followed in relation the ground investigation specification.
